Part One
This Pure Precision Competition Rifle was built around the new SKLTN action in stainless steel and a Proof Competition .264 barrel. The SKLTN action has a lot of great features, but for this build, the 75 degree bolt throw, anti-bind rail, and the ability to accept prefit barrels is what makes it a great choice. The Proof Research steel competition barrel has been a proven winner and having them readily available makes for reliable re-barreling in the future. The Manners MCS TCS is a rock solid choice for any build if a specific weight requirement is not an issue.
The Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 F1 Mil C was mounted in Nightforce ring and secured to a 20MOA base. The Fat Bastard brake was used to help minimize recoil for fast follow-up shots and the MDT CYKE double pull bipod was mounted on the full-length ARCA. A Speedtracker chronograph was mounted in front of the bipod on the ARCA to easily get velocity data.
Berger 6.5 Creedmoor w/ the 130gr Hybrid OTM Tactical was the ammunition of choice. A Pure Precision target with 1" center squares was placed at 100yds. Five shot groups were used to adjust. The average velocity for 17 shots was 2890 fps with an SD of 8.
The first shots required a scope adjustments of .2 up, the second group .1 right, and a .1 up after third group. Final two shots for confirmation of adjustments. So far this rifle is printing consistent 1/2 MOA groups as expected and we are ready to confirm dope at 600 yards.
Tune into our next post for range results at 600.
